When it comes to traffic, going the extra mile means going a little bit farther than necessary. For example, if you see a car coming down the street and you know it will be causing a traffic jam a few blocks down, you can go the extra mile by pulling over and letting that car pass before you head down that road. You may not be able to prevent that traffic jam from happening, but at least you didn’t contribute to it. In life, taking the extra step can mean causing a traffic jam on your own life.
